Social Media

Social media can add value to your chapter experience, providing both communication and a sense of community to your members. We have compiled a list to be used as a resource and guide listing best practices and relevant hashtags that you can utilize. View the Social Media Best Practices for writing, images, hashtags, and marketing. Profile and cover photos are available for social media accounts. Connect with and follow other chapters on social media.

 

Brand Guidelines

  • View the HIMSS Brand Guidelines for Chapters and the full HIMSS Brand and Style Guidelines
  • View how to correctly use the brand and logos. The logo should not be altered, distorted, or redrawn. Do not layer the logo on top of an illustration or detailed photo.
  • When using the logo:
    • Full-color logo is used on white backgrounds
    • White logotype variation is used on the Admiral Blue background
    • White mark variation is used on Sky Blue background
    • The logo may also be used on a gray background
  • All chapter marketing materials (websites, social media channels, and emails) will be reviewed for brand adherence. If a communication uses outdated brand materials the chapter will be asked to correct to current brand materials.
  • Substitute brand-approved fonts are Century Gothic and Trebuchet.

Photography

Chapters may use original photography in communications, but will need to adhere to HIMSS photography guidelines.  Or chapters may select from our royalty-free collection on the Brand Center. 

 

Logo Usage Policy

Chapters must use their full name and/or logo as provided by HIMSS Marketing. Chapters may only use their own name and/or logo and may not use the HIMSS name and/or logo in any materials without HIMSS approval. Permission to use a Chapter logo shall be withdrawn if it is found to be in violation of policy. For appropriate logo usage guidelines, please contact chapters@himss.org. For more information on trademark and branding, please refer to the Affiliate Agreement.

 

Nickname Policy

Due to the length of some chapter names, pre-approved nicknames may be used. Chapters may not use other names outside the pre-approved nickname.

  • The first mention of the chapter’s name in any document, email, flyer, etc. must be the full chapter name.
  • The full chapter name is HIMSS XXX Chapter.
  • Review approved chapter names
